EASY LISTENING AND LAZY LEARNING

I definitely feel I arrived a little late to the podcast party, but since I’ve pressed play I’m delighted to have found this whole new world of resource and entertainment.

Whether you are feeling thirsty for knowledge, looking for a boost of inspiration or just want to take some time to zone out, there’ll be a perfect podcast out there for you.

Here are my top five recommendations to check out:

  1. Deliciously Ella

This is the home of one of my favourite ever podcast episodes where Ella and her husband talk to Dr. Gemma Newman about the power of a whole-food plant-based diet.

Series 3 Episode 12 “Plant Power; Eat Yourself Healthy’ has some astonishing facts and figures that really got me thinking differently about the effects of different foods on the body. Seriously interesting stuff!

There are many other episodes, all with different experts and subjects; there’s something for everyone I’m sure.

  2. Feel Better Live More - Dr ChatterJee

As well as offering a reassuring and calming demeanour, the topics that Dr Rangan Chatterjee (GP and author) covers in his podcast are fascinating. His current episodes are super relevant and topical to these very strange times we’ve found ourselves in, so worth looking at recent additions to the series if you want to tune in to something current.

Roaming a little further back in the archive, you’ll find episodes on how being kind can improve your immune system (loved this one) and one of my other personal favourites titled “Is Everything You Know About Depression Wrong?”

  3. Unlocking Us - Brené Brown

Brené’s insights on human behaviour and emotion have blown me away over the time I’ve been aware of her work. I’ve had so many ‘aha’ moments with the things she’s shared. She takes insight and delivers it with humour and humility. I’ve recommended her videos to so many friends, so when her podcast finally arrived a few weeks ago I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to tune in.

If you prefer something more visual than a podcast, check out her Ted Talk on vulnerability - it’s super powerful!

  4. Table Manners with Jessie Ware

This podcast is a real spirit-lifter. If you’re looking for something to remind you to take life a little less seriously, this is a great choice!

Jessie hosts the podcast alongside her mum, and I personally really enjoy listening to their relationship - it’s frank and funny and it warms my heart. The guest list through the episodes is pretty impressive too so I’d recommend having a rummage through the episode archive and just picking the guest who most appeals to you.

  5. Happy Place - Fearne Cotton

For me, this does exactly what it says on the tin. You’re instantly greeted by Fearne’s down-to-earth, honest and open nature. There’s just something about her that makes her feel familiar to me - almost like I’m listening to a friend.

Anyway, Fearne has got quite a few series of her podcast under her belt now so there’s a heap of great guests to choose from. Some of my personal favourites include Bryony Gordon, Tom Odell and Russell Brand.

    Easy and uplifting listening.
