ANYONE ELSE TAKEN THEIR SNACKING GAME TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL RECENTLY?

Well if you’re in need of a delicious diversion from the naughty snack shelf (or cupboard in my case), here’s a goodness-packed alternative from my beautiful friend and all-round gorgeous human Toni Debolla - otherwise known as Feed Me Momma,

These cacao bites are like sticky little slices of heaven. They are a regular on Toni’s menu and everyone loves them. They’re packed with energy and nutrients, making them the perfect snack.

Here’s the recipe to get you guys involved in some sticky teeth action and banish the sweet tooth cravings!

Cacao Crunch

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup walnuts

  • 1/2 cup of cacao nibs

  • 1 cup of pecans

  • 1 cup of soft dates (medjool or soaked dates)

  • 1/2 cup of cacao powder

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp maca powder

  • 1 tbsp of warmed coconut oil

  • 4 tbsp of water

METHOD

Pulse walnuts and cacao nibs for a few seconds in a processor. You want a broken down texture not crumbs. Place into a mixing bowl.

Next, blitz the pecans in the processor, then slowly add the following one at a time:

  • soft dates (medjool or soaked dates)

  • cacao powder

  • cinnamon

  • maca powder

  • warmed coconut oil

  • water

You want a slightly sticky texture so if the mixture is too crumbly add a little more water.

Place into bowl and mix well with other ingredients. Pour this all into a 15-20 cm lined tin. Any shape tin is fine - if you like them deeper use a smaller tin.

Push down firmly making the mixture stick together until it’s flat like a brownie, dust with a little cocoa powder and place in fridge for around 4 hours.

Remove, slice and gobble up!
